Growth and Value-Added Modeling--
Implications for Teacher Evaluation

Value-added modeling, a concept borrowed from economics,

is becoming an increasingly popular tool for evaluating teachers.

Can these models paint an accurate picture of teacher quality?

Zach Warner will give an overview of how growth and value-added

models are used in teacher evaluation. His experience with the NYS SGP

model and current issues surrounding this topic will be discussed.
