Distinguished Alumnus

Richard Lehrer, an EdPsych alumnus who is currently a professor of science education at Vanderbilt University Peabody College, has been selected to receive American Psychological Association's 2009 Award for Distinguished Contributions of Applications of Psychology to Education and Training during APA's annual convention in Toronto, Canada.
A 1983 graduate of the division, Professor Lehrer is a faculty member at the Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt. His research is focused on children's mathematical and scientific reasoning in the context of schooling and student inquiry and the semiotics of inscription.
Professor Lehrer's award will be presented at 4 pm on August 7, in the Concert Hall of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.

  • You may also want to provide handouts summarizing or supplementing your research
